Fascinated by France and its culture, she got such a shock at the sight of the war pictures of François Chalais that she wanted by contrast to show beauty. She then began to make fashion photos, living with enthusiasm the golden age after the terrible conflicts of the Second World War, the wars in Indochina and in Algeria. She worked with the biggest names in luxury and of the Parisian glamour world like Cartier, Chaumet, Lanvin, Vogue...
Returning to Paris after one of her trips to New York, she fell in love with the Eiffel Tower. Her friend, Pierre Bidault had dressed the Iron Lady in a new light for its 100 years. Winnie Denker wanted to meet this personal challenge to show differently this monument that is photographed millions of times every day.
Three books were born of this love story, one of which that could have been written by Marlene Dietrich. But «the most beautiful legs in the world» left the scene a few days after the actress received the request of Winnie accompanied by a bouquet of white flowers. Françoise Sagan who had said, « I hate the Eiffel Tower», fell in love with it under the gaze of Winnie Denker and wrote her wonderful book that she named «The Sentinel of Paris.»
