AMONUMENTAL CLOCK
IN TOKYO
Alessandra Cenna
Philippe Lebru, designer, creator and founder of the UTINAM society is mainly a time explorer as evidenced by his spectacular watch mechanism of the Gare of Besançon, created in 2011.
This year he has inaugurated the world’s largest skeleton clock on the facade of a new Japanese concept store in the chic of Blue Mountain in Tokyo.
This colossal decorative element in contemporary design plays the red, white and stainless steel with an advanced technology resistant to earthquakes and typhoons.
The phrase «we are the children which time makes grow into the circle of life» is engraved in French on the huge clock perched at 9 meters above the ground. This titanic worthy daughter of Chronos is 5 meters high and 4 meters wide. It required five months to manufacture and 15 days for its installation.Philippe Lebru again offers to time a wonderful example of watch making in unprecedented proportions, even if his talent is also expressed through his collections of exceptional watches on the human scale.
When time meets a mountain, it suspends its flight to enjoy its immensity.
