The opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 and the arrival of steamboats, whose wild ride does not depend on the winds, relegated them to the film scenes on far seas.
One hundred years after the disappearance of these legendary boats in the early ‘90s, the Swedish entrepreneur Mikael Krafft had the incredible idea to bring up to date these elegant yachts in luxury versions, high tech and human scale.
The Royal Clipper is the largest fully rigged cruising sailboat currently in service. Those proud five masts can take on board 227 passengers with 106 crewmembers. The other two vessels are smaller schooners of four masts.
