B-ALL
After training both in academic art history at the Sorbonne and in the Pari- sian workshops, she also plays off her dual sensitivity of Scandinavian birth and French adoption to invent her world in large format. Her monumental portraits are reminiscent of the works of American Alex Katz.
Her compositions in version «king size» are inspired from both the German and Italian Renaissance as that of French classicism in the
blazing palette of a David Hockney.
Her approach to painting draws her references to the Neo-Impressionism with a penchant for very strong juxtaposition of divided touches ... to rule
over a world that loves playful elegance with a very British humor.
Her «bigger than life» portraits tell the intimacy of her models. Indeed, although they may seem magniied beyond a vision, Christina Holdgaard invites relection on the duality and ambiguity of a completely unexpected representation for her model as for her viewer.
Still in this space-time search she uses vinyl paint for a rendering with matt and velvety effects as the old «Tempera».
