THE AURA OF A CLOUD

After studying physics and philosophy, Laurent Saksik became a visual artist.
Inspired by the theories of Josef Albers and influenced by Claude Monet, his work is in the tradition of Robert Irwin and James Turrell. Installations and paintings evolve in a spectral, impressionistic universe. Very attached to the pictorial tradition, Laurent Saksik remembers his meeting with Pierre Soulages while he was resident at the Villa Medici.
The painter told him, «I’m doing light with black», to which he replied, «I’m doing black with light.»
