Jean-Philippe Nuel knows how to deal with the epure and the subtle tones by playing the card of sobriety in lines and lights. He uses artfully a palette in wadded natural gray; sand beige and gray blue and continues this delicate touch in the choice of his materials. With imper- tinence and humor, he knows how to break the classic and statutory codes, by putting a bed through the middle of a room or by installing colorful furniture items in a lobby.
Abandoning the too obvious total look, he can recall with a few well-chosen details the mythical past of the place, mixing them with graphic carpets and pioneering light fixtures. He thus shows up happily with black and white photographs of sporting events related to the Piscine Molitor or resumed the equestrian spirit with Chesterfield sofas at the Hotel Renaissance Paris Hippo- drome de Saint-Cloud.
The Hotel Cures Marines at Trouville is a fine example of a resurrection of a seaside legend. The 1903 building at the beautiful Art Deco facade has been completely transformed in 2015 by the Nuel agency to exalt the originality of the place evoking with a jubilant aesthetic the discovery of sea bathing.
