Beyond a certain regional pride in its roots and traditions, the cultural travel, artistic and gastronomic is smooth without thinking of the border differences in passing with pleasure from the famous Asturian cider to the Ribeiro and AlbariƱo wine from Galicia,
of a typical village to another, always with happiness.
Leifmotiv of this land of religious celebrations, a strong spirituality guides the steps of the visitors on the two routes of the Way of Saint-Jacques -from -Compostelle, dotted with churches, small and majestic, but always unique.
In the Cathedral of Oviedo, capital of Asturias, historically at the origin of the Camino Primitivo, the atmosphere still speaks of the pilgrimage of King Alfonso II of Aragon, who went in search of the tomb of the apostle St. Jacques, up at Compostela to attend the Mass and at the Botafumeiro ceremony.
The giant and weighing censer flies through the transept of the Cathedral of the city and managed to oscillate thanks to a small group of people in unison. The ultimate goal of the pilgrimage is a visit to the crypt of the Church to the remains of Saint-Jacques. The golden sculpture of the Saint on the altar is especially touching that it is possible to reach through the small staircase placed on the back of the Apostle to kiss and thank him
for having been able to accomplish the path.
Starting with the Asturias, since the visit of the city of Gijon and Cimadella with its imposing Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura (City of Culture) the journey continues on the coast
of singular beauty to discover cider, picturesque villages, marinas and villas marineras (Villaviciosa, Ribadesella and Cudillero) before arriving in Oviedo, capital of the millennium with a special architectural style.
Throughout this heavenly ballad, the spectacle of the sea alternates with the exuberant Asturian mountain ranges, vineyards planted on terraces and nature reserves.
