It pays tribute to one of the greatest patrons of the early twentieth century, Sergei Chtchoukine. True visionary of French modern art, this Russian textile magnate (1854-1936), had constituted a vertiginous collection of the greatest talents of the painting of the time. He had assembled in his Moscow palace an astonishing ensemble of two hundred and seventy-five works of modern art.
