Sumptuous, it attests back to eight centuries of history, the Habsburg dynasty, an impe- rial past and an incredible mix of styles, from the Tyrolean to the Baroque and then from the flamboyant Gothic.
Behind the often-austere facades, warm and welcoming private courtyards surprise us. Thus, the shopping malls and passages designed by Dominique Perrault contribute to the animation of this city famous for its winters and its six Christmas markets.
Symbol of Innsbruck, the Little Golden Roof with its 2757 shingles in fine gold copper was built by Emperor Maximilian I at the beginning of the XVI century.
Architects have recently taken over the city, retaining its identity, to create modern and func- tional works that integrate with the environment.
The breathtaking ski jump at Bergistel, where international competitions take place every year, has since 2002 a panoramic terrace designed by the architect Zaha Hahid.
The funicular rises among the fir trees, in the massif of NordKetten in 20 minutes. It has four futuristic stations, real white ships of the same artist.
Both summer and winter, this extraordinary nature is part of the daily life of the inhabitants of Innsbruck. The Olympic Games of 1964, 1976 and in 2012, during the first Youth Games, made it possible to harmoniously develop projects related to sport and the quality of life while respecting the environment.
