Staged by the agency Wilmotte & Associés with the collaboration of the graphic artist Italo Lupi in the nave of the museum, the Tutto Ponti exhibition, Gio Ponti archi- designer covers his entire long career, from 1921 to 1978, putting in light the many aspects of his work, from architec- ture to industrial design, from furniture to lighting, from the creation of magazines to his foray into the fields of glass, ceramics and goldsmithery.
More than 500 pieces retrace this multidisciplinary journey mixing architecture, furniture, facilities for private homes or public buildings, universities, cathedrals.
The exhibition presents chronologically the six decades of Ponti’s career in the fields of architecture, design, interior design and publishing. Objects, real estate, architecture for the cathedral of Taranto that ends this rich journey of an artist as prolific as is brilliant, each element refers to the joyful and colorful personality of an exceptional man of ori- ginality and talent.
Born in Milan, Gio Ponti has always been inspired by the entrepreneurial optimism and dynamism of this city consi- dered as the economic capital of Italy. Deeply attached to his origins, Gio Ponti defended until the end his principle of an «Italian house», considered as the ultimate expres- sion of an authentic modern and international civilization.
