The slogan «from the little spoon to the skyscra- per» attributed to the Italian architect Ernesto Nathan Rogers (1909-1969) embodies the personality of the Milanese architect whose projects could evolve from the infinitely small to the infinitely great.
Architect and designer without borders, he has not only left his mark on the academic and cultural activity of his homeland but also of the whole world by diffusing his famous artistic magazines, DOMUS and LO STILE.
After having been Artistic Director of the Italian por- celain maker Richard Ginori, it was in France that he created his first architectural work with «THE FLYING ANGEL», a villa designed for the Director of the Chris- tofle house. A house without complications, but which does not answer simply to the material necessities of existence, far from the machine to live, this first house incarnates the aesthetic and poetic universe of Gio Ponti.
This «Angel» will spread its wings internationally and be the first flagship of a great line of wonderful buil- dings, houses, museums, schools, hotels, churches around the world. From the Pirelli Tower in Milan to the private villas between Caracas and Tehran, or the Denver Art Museum at the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento, Gio Ponti continues to invent universes with surprising freshness.
