To commemorate the anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci in France, the Louvre Museum dedicates a large retrospective exhibition of his entire career as a painter.
On this occasion, nearly 120 works were collected in addition to the five paintings in the permanent collection of the Louvre, including the very famous and very enigmatic Mona Lisa which accompanied the Master until his last breath.
Curious, indefatigable and passionate about discovery, Leonardo da Vinci made his «science of painting» the instrument of an art that could give life to the features, hues, characters and landscapes of his paintings.
Florentine painter and sculptor, man of universal spirit, poet and musician, philosopher and writer, Leonardo da Vinci liked to organize shows but also excelled as an inventor, engineer, anatomist, architect, town planner and botanist.
This internationally recognized genius lived to the rhythm of his travels and his discoveries. So far ahead of his time, his mind was as free as the fabulous flying machines he imagined crisscrossing the sky.
Leonardo da Vinci, Portrait of a young man holding a score, says The Musician, around 1483-1490.
