Sculptures of wood and iron, paintings, videos and drawings are presented to the public and try to give answers to the questions around this enigma and its metamorphosis.
Pinocchio, king, man or child? His enigma plays contradictions, he is born of a tree trunk and yet he is ticklish, he is a puppet but without the strings...
A strange creature swallowed by a whale, he dies and resurrects. Liar more out of shame than mischief, his nose is lengthened with each faribole and he knows a thousand and one adventures far from the paths of innocence.
Famous since antiquity, automata have been a great success in nineteenth century France, mimicking the movements of men and animals. But Pinocchio moves away from the machine with his clown antics. He ridicules his father and has no respect for the authorities. He prefers artificial paradises to the real world, which distances him from the natural world of childhood.During the visit, viewers of all ages can interact with the works through multi media experiences.
Thus opens the mouth of the whale discovering a magical place with real sensory experiences.
The exhibition juggles between ingenuity and cunning, autonomy and submission, life and death. Pinocchio appears as a universal figure, a poetic metaphor for the human condition.
