The exhibition, «Le Stanze del Vetro», at the Fondazione Cini, on the small island of San Giorgio in Venice, retraces the history of Studio Glass.
Sixty artists, American and Venetian designers exhibit their works of multicolored glass.
From the first half of the 20th century, this movement called «American Studio Glass» aspired to return to glass art at the expense of overly indus- trial production. The artists therefore began to blow glass in their works- hops without real technical knowledge. In order to fill their gaps in this area and avoid this limitation to their aspirations, they went to Venice to learn how to create installations, sculptures or objects.
Glass thus regained its artistic nobility and was placed at the forefront when it was considered a delicate vestige of the past.
155 pieces, objects and sculptures reflect this Venetian influence both by its technological and aesthetic aspect since the ‘60s.
