From April 24 to July 19, 2020, the Kunsthaus Zürich presents a large thematic exhibition dedicated to the 1920s and entitled «Sowing at any wind - The Roaring Twenties - From Joséphine Baker to Thomas Ruff».
For the first time since the 1970s, an art exhibition brings together the Bauhaus, Dada, New Objectivity and the icons of modernism in archi- tecture and design at the scale of several countries. 21st century artists will appropriate the disruptive spirit of the interwar period and surprise the public with new works.
The 1920s were a decade of social and artistic excitement. At no other time does the 20th century express such a desire for novelty.
Experimentation becomes a master word in art and artists play happily in these times of economic and social innovation.
Cities are growing at great speed, classic business and family models are exploding while oppressed minorities are making themselves heard in politics and culture. The leisure industry is born and it is at the heart of this general excitement that timeless icons appear in architecture and design.
