The Marmottan-Monet Museum will present, at its reopening, the first monographic exhibition in France devoted to the work of Pe- der Severin Krøyer (1851 - 1909).
About sixty paintings by this Danish artist, prolific outdoor painter, portrait painter and photographer, will be presented on this occasion.
The Blue Hour is the central theme addressed to the rhythm of Krøyer’s paintings. During his long stays in Skagen, a small fishing village in Denmark, the painter admired this meteorological phenomenon that precedes twilight at dusk.
A meeting place of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, Skagen was a happy place for a colony of artists towards the end of the 19th century.
