Niki de Saint Phalle wanted to steal fire from the men who held the power of this adventurous and mysterious world. She lived her loving and artistic collaboration with Jean Tinguely as a gift from heaven, an immense privilege.
Like any childbirth at Niki de Saint Phalle’s, this garden was born with difficulty, faith and passion.
In search of the treasure of life, between symbolic imagery and perso- nal mythology, the tarot allowed her to better understand the spiritual world and the problems of this existence with the cards given at birth. Realizing the difficulties she had to overcome to pass from one test to the next, she finally wanted to find inner peace at the end of the game in the Paradise Garden.
In accordance with her adoration of curves, this space is all round, in colorful undulations to respond to her intimate conviction, «the world is a breast...”
