Since 1997, the Christian Dior Museum in Granville has dedicated an exhibition each year to a theme linked to the work and inspiration of the great French couturier.Until the end of October, «Dior en Roses» offers a privileged look at the heritage of the rose in the history of the Dior House.
Christian Dior’s passion for the queen of flowers has continued thanks to the six Artistic Directors who have followed him since 1957, the year of his unti- mely death. Yves St Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri have all continued to pay homage to the beautiful corolla so well immortalized in literature by Ronsard’s sonnets.
The museum is housed in the house built at the end of the 19th century and purchased by Christian Dior’s parents in 1906, just after his birth.
This residence will become a holiday home after the Dior family left for Paris in 1911, but in 1929, Christian’s father, ruined by the crisis, was forced to sell it.
