Two of the world’s greatest collections of Beatrix Potter, held by the Victoria & Albert museum and the National Trust, come together today to tell the full story of her life in a major new V&A exhibition.
This fun and interactive exhibition invites you to rediscover and explore the many facets of one of the most popular authors of children’s fiction of the 20th century. It opens on the 120th anni- versary of Potter’s most beloved book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
More than 200 personal objects are presented to the public, brin- ging together works of art, manuscripts and coded diaries along- side family photographs and scientific drawings.
Passionate about nature and storytelling, Beatrix Potter studied science very early on. From the age of nine, Beatrix collected with her brother Bertram, butterflies, bird eggs, shells and fossils for the purpose of scientific observation. An ecologist before her time, she devoted herself to the breeding and conservation of sheep.
