Around 80 watercolors and drawings have been exhibited since May in chrono- logical and thematic order.
In collaboration with the Folon Foundation in La Hulpe, Belgium and the Vatican Museums, are presented his first militant works of youth to the large watercolors and sculptures of his maturity.
After two years of delay due to the pandemic, this beautiful opus retraces the major themes of the artist’s career. The exhibition highlights his committed and rebellious side, often ignored, his fight against injustice, the defense of nature with his deep res- pect for the environment.
The presentation is divided into several sections, «Man and the Metropolis», «Man and Nature», «Man and War», «Human Rights», «Chambers of Hope”. The visitor thus travels in a real progression from anguish to the triumph of hope to meet light and beauty.
In his drawings from the ‘60s and ‘70s, Folon chooses paper and watercolor to de- nounce the urban confinement of men, parked in labyrinths and surrounded by contradictory arrows preventing them from moving freely. As for Nature, it must defend itself from the attacks of man who inflicts constant wounds on it. Folon was already very involved in the defense of the planet.
