Urban art artist, Banksy is internationally known by this pseudonym because his true identity remains secret despite all the speculation about him.
Apparently active since the ‘90s in England, he works in stencils with humor and poetry, but also for political purposes with clearly anti-capitalist, anar- chist, anti-militarist and, to sum up, anti-system messages.
In 2003, Banksy made the cover for the Blur disc, “Think Tank” showing an embracing man and woman painted on a wall with diving helmets.
In 2004, he printed fake 10-pound notes and put the effigy of Lady Diana in the place of that of the Queen. It also replaces the words “Bank of England” with “Banksy of England” and disperses these small denominations during the Notting Hill carnival.
Founder of the «Santa’s Ghetto» project; he paints on the wall of Bethlehem to give hope to the Palestinians. In 2005, he collaborated with other artists such as the American Ron English and transformed the wall into a giant canvas, which he talks about in his book «Wall & Piece». No one can forget the image of his little Vietnamese girl burned with napalm holding hands with Mickey Mouse and Ronald McDonald.
