Georges Nagelmackers, a Belgian civil and industrial engineer, inau- gurated the first “Orient Express” luxury trains more than 140 years ago.
Today, the plans and projects for the future train have been unveiled, thanks to the layout carried out by interior designer Maxime D’Angeac and his collaboration with the Accor Group, the world leader in the hotel industry. The old cars, missing and forgotten, were finally found in 2015 on the border between Belarus and Poland.
Part of the interior decorations revealed Morrison and Nelson marquetry and Lalique panels faithful to the Art Deco style with their blackbird and grape motifs.
The former «Nostalgia Istanbul Orient Express», sold after two years of negotiations by its owner in 2018, served as an inspiration to the architect and the best craftsmen in France. Already known for his achievements, Maxime D’Angeac, in partnership with the American designer Hilton McConnico, has been signing magnificent renovations and projects in the catering and luxury sectors for several years.
