At 17, rue du port, the open gate overlooks a tree-lined courtyard. Basically, a private mansion converted into a few offices for the dozen employees and vast storage spaces for furniture, objects and treasures that come from all over France. A real Ali Baba’s cave.
Master Lucien, tall and elegant, is extremely courteous. Despite a very busy, often hectic schedule, he is very available, with a subtle sense of humor to boot, when he receives you.
At eleven, he knew. He would be an auctioneer. Decision taken following immersion in an exhibition preparatory to a sale. However, nothing ex- ceptional and a lot of dust but this little reader, already a gourmand of novels, imagines the life of the objects he has before his eyes.
Meetings being the genesis of this profession, add the obsession with tire- lessly unearthing nuggets, the curiosity of their itineraries, all sprinkled with a great fantasy and you find Maitre Lucien who takes you, in front of any room, into a moment of history punctuated with tasty anecdotes.
For thirty years, Christophe Lucien has been banging his hammer. From the beginning, he strayed from the beaten track. He organizes the first “kitch” sale... in the world. A great memory. The sale which took place outdoors welcomed visitors dressed to fit the event. However, no dress code had been recommended!
A lover of Paris, he is a flâneur. It’s not a question of free time, he has little of it. It’s a state of mind. Each of his trips in the capital resembles a stroll. Marveling at a lamp post, a fire hydrant, a door handle or a sign, he always told himself that one day he would do something with them.
