Adeclaration of love to Paris.
The trigger? The sale, among other things, of a piece of stairs from the Eiffel Tower and a vespasian.
It was December 18, 2009. Maître Lucien, who despairs at seeing Parisian street furniture end up with scrap dealers, sees this as a sign. With Sophie Men, his right arm and left, they imagine listing all these wonders that make Paris and, as a play on words, the label PARIS MON AMOUR is born.
At this time, urban planning and its furniture had already been considered secondary for a long time. Materials to be burned at the stake, destroyed, there is a desire for rupture, the only result of which is to break the harmony, to replace the aesthetic with the insignificant.
This legacy left in the streets of the capital is essentially the work of Gabriel Davioud, an urban architect working in concert with Baron Haussmann. We owe him, for example, the design of the metro gates, the famous “Davioud bench” and the layout of Parisian parks.
If London has its telephone booths, New York its street lamps, Paris is unique with its abundance of useful ornaments. Foreigners were the first to recognize the richness and generosity of what makes Paris recognizable throughout the world with an inimitable style.
