Born April 20, 1893, Joan Miró, painter, sculptor, engraver and ceramist with Spanish nationality defined himself as an international Catalan. This icon of the Surrealist movement has always been in revolt against oppression, political or artistic.
In 1930, he expressed violently his desire to abandon conventional methods of painting and said he wanted
«to kill, murder or rape them « to create
a new form of expression.
Free spirit so ahead of his time; Miró has always refused to follow the rules of aesthetics or the requirements of surrealism such as conceived by his fellows. To spread the wings of his inspiration, he could not consider reducing his art to conventions.
As much as Rimbaud, Miró chose the path of poetry in his plastic art « to change life.»
