In the 1960’s, in Los Angeles he meets the Californian artists, Ed Ruscha, Richard Serra, Claes Oldenburg, Larry Bell, Ron Davis ... the encounter with the art of Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns sparked questions within himself about the expressive means of architecture.
He then decided to renew its design methods and in line with «Funk Art», he introduced materials previously considered too poor to be used such as cardboard, sheet metal and industrial grids. He frees himself of the triumphant postmodernism in order to humanize architecture by finding a second wind after the first industrial crisis.
The biographical film, «Esquisses» in 2005, directed by Sydney Pollack recounts their dialogue on this subject, visionary in its overall conception of urbanism and architecture with the introduction of the digital for the manufacture of his creations.
