The exhibition immerses us in the childhood of Saint-Exupéry, born in Lyon on July 29, 1900 into a family of aristocrats. Fascinated by planes and poetry, he will draw all his life. This is also how in his book, the Little Prince meets the aviator “Please...draw me a sheep!” »Saint-Exupéry entered aviation in 1921 during his military service before joining the airmail service on the Casablanca Dakar line and then in Argentina.
His flights inspired his first two novels, Courrier sud (1929) and Vol de nuit (1931). His accident in December 1935 during an air raid between Paris and Saigon marks the starting point of The Little Prince.
Dotted with poetic illustrations, this timeless story is a universal and enigmatic tale. This exhibition reveals aspects that are sometimes overlooked and provides keys to understanding them.
