His wife Consuelo, who inspired the character of the Rose, and his friend and mentor Léon Werth are the two key figures in Saint-Exupéry’s life during the Second World War, which he spent in the United States. The Little Prince is also dedicated to Léon Werth, whose anti-militarist and anti-colonialist views he shares.
The Little Prince will forever remain Saint-Exupéry’s literary double. He has survived its author since his death for France in 1944.
Translated into more than 500 languages and dialects, this magnificent book speaks to the hearts of children of all ages in an eternal message of hope for humanity.
