10000 km away from Paris, Japan is a gorgeous country; a real surprise. It’s a new difficult period in this great nation’s history and these images were taken on Honshu, the Main Island, Tokyo, Kawagoe, Osaka and Kyoto in 2011, last summer. This is the land of paradoxes offering at the same time the pure tradition of temples, castles and gardens and the very modern futuristic design of incredible towers and breathtaking architecture. In the district of Akihabara, in the same street you can meet a Maiko; apprentice Geisha, as well as very modern “Maids” (waitresses). Tokyo is full of contradictions. In the restless megalopolis of more than 38 million people, life is constantly in motion at different speed. The rhythm can be very peaceful when you walk in the Imperial Garden in the prayerful contemplation of carps sliding quietly in their ponds surrounded by luxurious but cleverly organized vegetation. On the other hand, the Japan´s Fashion world represents the crazy rhythm in Harajuku, Omotesando, Shinjuku or Ginza. Far from this shopping-paradise, Shimbashi and Odaiba give a break and offer pleasant opportunities to relax in lovely restaurants with Japanese delights. The light in Tokyo is extreme just like the sound, bright like the neon and then mysteriously dark in bars not much bigger than shoeboxes.
