The water never stopped to exercise its fascination on Monet and on June 22, 1890 he wrote,
« I took things impossible to do ... water with grass rippling in the background ... that is wonderful to look at, but it’s crazy to want to do that. Finally, I always attack that kind of things! »
Ode to life, Monet’s garden was one of his most precious assets. He painted it in the eternal delight of its perpetual changes. Blanche, « the blue angel » of his flowers, the daughter of his wife and the wife of his son Jean, was the only one he trusted enough to take care of his Paradise when he wanted to continue his conquest of the beauty of the moment. He was leaving his garden to paint his cathedrals of light or his series of haystacks. An indefatigable painter of the absolute, artist of the impression of emotion, he admired Japanese art.
