The reopening of the Sheraton Hotel -The Grand- in Edinburgh, which welcomed a thousand guests on the occasion of an elegant and pleasant party, allowed us to discover the recently restored institution, as well as to visit this attractive city.
Our arrival in Edinburgh was accompanied by the first rays of light of a groping spring season. Surrounded by volcanic hills, the city may look forbidding behind its grey stone buildings, darkened with time, and its labyrinth of cobblestone alleyways. In reality, we are talking about a city of contrasts and traditions, a dream-like city, a city with a far more appealing behindthe-scenes than we may think, as may one barely cross the somewhat severe front façades, one would discover a rich historical past that comes together with a modern and cosmopolitan life where cooking traditions, fashion, and Scottish culture in general are reinvented.
