CARTIER THE ODYSSEY OF ETERNITY Cartier produced a short film of rare and precious beauty:
L’Odyssée No one ignores that the roaring lion stands as the symbol for the Metro Goldwyn Mayer film history. Now is the time for the iconic panther to leave her inimitable mark on the film industry.
Just as brilliant as the designs of the firm, as fascinating as her muse and artistic director of the 30s, Jeanne Toussaint -a.k.a «The Panther»-, she gets us carried away in a purely eternal voyage that ventures towards myths, inspirations and artistic inclinations shared by her founders, the three brothers Pierre, Louis and Jacques Cartier. Cartier entrusted the very talented Bruno Aveilan with this exquisite and mythical saga. The latter is famous all over the world for the advertising campaigns and short films he produced for the most prestigious brands: Perrier, Lanvin, Guerlain, Louis Vuitton, Shangri La... A visual artist inspired by movement, he composed the steps of «L’Odyssée» with the craftsmanship of a master in the art of body language, dance, and memory. His brilliant ballet was set to music by Pierre Ardenot, a composer of popular music as well as film music who both created and orchestrated this jolly waltz for Cartier exclusively. Original and never ending, here goes the masterful composition of Pierre Ardenot for Cartier. And let us not forget the three panthers that perfectly render Shalom Harlow’s feline beauty, as if modeled on her. An animal handler and fellow worker of such great names as Pasolini, Beneix, Jean-Jacques Arnaud, or Ridley Scott, Thierry Le Portier -the panther breederdirected all three wildcats in a masterly fashion. Cali, Damou and Tiga were stunning in the role of The One and Only Panther as they gave the most graceful thereby fascinating performance altogether bewitching and flawless.
Cartier is now related to Jean Cocteau forever as he faithfully followed the prophecy of the late poet who once said that « Film is modern writing with ink is light»
